Moving can be a stressful time, and Man With Van Can try to make it as smooth as possible in many ways. Ensure you follow these tips to ensure your house move is even easier.
1. Turn off fridges and freezers
Turn off your refrigerator and freezer, and bag all frozen goods five hours before we arrive to pick them up for your house move. This is very important as the elements need time to settle, or they can get damaged.
2. Keep your TV protected
Pack all TVs in the manufacturer's box or other packaging, especially those over 48 inches. Also, don’t lay TVs flat as this can damage the screen. Keep them upright and bubble-wrap them. We sell packing materials etc. here.
3. Information & Inventory
Please send us, or your chosen removals company, a full list of all furniture to be moved, including all large and unboxed items and the number of boxes to the nearest 10. Remember to incude outside furniture, planters and ornaments.
It is also useful for the removals company to know how many other movers are in the chain and how both properties can be accessed.
4. Item over £10,000?
Please mention to us if any of your individual items are worth more than £10,000, so we can take special care when moving them and make the necessary arrangements with our insurers.
5. Get fewer vehicles for local moves
If your move is local it is a lot more cost effective to send 1 x 3.5 tonne Luton vehicle and complete multiple runs. The inside of our vans are 14ft in length by 7ft in width by 7ft in height = 14x7x7=686 cubic feet or 19.4 cubic metres.
6. One of Man With Van Can's vehicles is good for a 1-2 bed house
One of our 3.5 tonne Luton vans is usually enough for 1-2 bedroom house.
For larger houses - If local, it’s far more cost effective to return and do two runs on house moves of less than 35 miles than it is to get a larger vehicle. If not, we can send two vans with two drivers. These will fit most 3/4 bedroom houses and outside goods. This is based on a busy house.
7. Extra Packaging
Do you need any more packing? You can get some from us at a reasonable price. We can also assemble and dissemble furniture such as beds and tables for a small extra charge. Just take a look here.
